Chris Brown, Land Rover Outstanding Practical Learner 2007 Chris is an apprentice in the strength and durability department at Land Rover in Solihull. He got high grades in his A-levels but chose not to go into further education and decided an apprenticeship was the best route. He studied practical engineering in his first year and has used his knowledge to design rigs and fixtures for carrying out durability testing. He has also been working on developing the process of mass properties measurement, and his mathematical knowledge has reduced the need for additional design stages during calculation. Chris's Edge Awards prize money was used to fund further study and training to help him adapt to even more demanding challenges.
